Netherlands will host Poland in a UEFA Nations League fixture at De Kuip stadium on Saturday. The hosts would be aiming to make it three wins in a row and solidify their top spot in the League A Group 4. Meanwhile Poland are third in the standings with one win from two games. Holland side are heading into the tie on the back of a convincing 2-1 win over Wales, while the visitors suffered a humiliating 6-1 defeat against Belgium last time out. Meanwhile both these sides have faced each other on 17 occasions and the Oranje clearly has a better record, having registered eight wins and six draws.

Holland started their 2022-23 Nations League campaign with a thumping 4-1 victory against the Belgians, who are ranked second in the FIFA World Rankings. In Brussels, Memphis Depay scored a brace, while Steven Bergwijn and Denzel Dumfries netted one goal each to take all three points. And then, against the Dragons,in Cardiff City Stadium, Oranje broke the deadlock through Teun Koopmeiners early in the second half before Norrington-Davies netted an injury-time equaliser. Just when it looked like the points would be shared, Wout Weghorst scored a 94th minute winner to clinch the victory for Louis Van Gaal’s side. Netherlands have been in superb form since their exit from the Euro 2020 in the last-16 stage by Czech Republic. Since then, the Oranje are unbeaten in 11 games, having registered 8 wins from those.

Poland, on the other hand, who had overcome Sweden to book their place in the World Cup to be held in Qatar on November, began their Nations League campaign with a 2-1 win over Wales. Jakub Kaminski and Karl Siderski got on the scoresheet to secure the victory. However, in the next match, talismanic striker Robert Lewandowski gave a dream start to Czesław Michniewicz’s side, but then, the hosts netted six times in the last 50 minutes of the game. Leandro Trossard struck twice off the bench alongside goals from Axel Witsel, Kevin de Bruyne, Leander Dendoncker and Lois Openda. Poland’s form of late has been hot and cold, having won three times in their last six outings across all competitions.

Probable Lineups

Van Gaal is likely to go back to the lineup that thrashed the Red Devils, earlier this month. The Dutchman has some issues to solve at the back, as Virgil van Dijk is unavailable while his partner De Ligt suffered an injury in the last game. Therefore Ake will come in in the three-man defence alongside De Vrij and Timber. Frenkie de Jong will continue to pull the strings in the midfield with Depay and Bergwijn up front. As for Poland, goalkeeper Szczesny could return to the playing XI with Glik and Bednarek in front him in the central defence. In the midfield, Matty Cash and Karol Lineety are expected to get a start.  Lewandowski will continue to shoulder the goal-scoring responsibilities with Buksa and Zielinski in support.

Netherlands probable starting lineup: Cillessen, Dumfries, De Vrij, Ake, Blind, De Jong, Koopmeiners, Klaasen, Berghuis, Depay, Bergwijn,

Poland probable starting lineup: Szczęsny, Bereszynski, Glik, Bednarek, Cash, Linetty, Zurkowski, Frandowski, Zielinski, Buksa, Lewandowski.
