Serie A leaders Napoli will host top-four hopefuls Lazio at the Diego Maradona stadium on Friday night. As of now, the hosts are comfortably occupying top spot in the Italian top flight standings, having collected 65 points from 24 games, 18 clear of the chasing pack and 20 above fourth-placed Lazio. The reverse fixture this season was at Stadio Olimpico  in September, with the Blues securing a 2-1 win, thanks to Kim Nin-Jae opener and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s second-half effort.

Napoli are heading into the match on the back of a comfortable 2-0 win away to Empoli, courtesy of an own goal by Ardian Ismajli inside the opening 17 minutes and Victor Osimhen’s 28th-minute effort.  It was the Blues’ seventh consecutive win across all competitions, and 21st top flight victory of the campaign. Osimhen has now scored in eight consecutive Serie A matches, the first man to reach the tally since Cristian Ronaldo more than three years ago. Meanwhile, it was the Partenopei’s 58th league-goal of the season, while they have conceded only 15 in the top flight. A win on Friday. Will extend Napoli’s lead at the top a whopping 21 points.

Lazio, on the other hand, edged past Sampdoria in their last outing on Monday, thanks to Luis Alberto’s lone goal ten minutes from time. It was the Eagles’ third win in their last four matches in all competitions. Two consecutive league-wins has helped Maurizio Sarri’s side to move to the top-four in the standings. They have recorded 13 wins, six draws and five defeats in the top flight this season. Meanwhile the White and Sky Blues  have kept things tight on the road this season, letting in just seven league-goals away from home, a record only bettered by their Friday’s opponents. Apart from that, Sarri’s side are only behind Juventus for clean sheets kept in Serie A this campaign.

Napoli vs Lazio: Records, Stats and Goals

Napoli have been dominant against the Eagles in the last five meetings, having recorded four wins from the last five encounters. Meanwhile, Lazio’s last triumph against the Blues came in 2020, thanks to goals from Ciro Immobile and Luis Albero. Last season, Spalletti’s side completed a double against the White and Sky Blues and will be aiming to do the same this term. Friday’s match will be the 163rd meeting between these two clubs and when it comes down to the head-to-head, Napoli have a clear advantage, having triumphed 63 times, compared to just 49 wins for the Eagles.
