Paris Saint-Germain will be hoping to get back to winning ways, when they travel to Stade de la Losson to take on Montpellier in a Ligue 1 fixture on Wednesday night. The visitors are heading into the match on the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw to Reims on Sunday, while Montpellier got the better of Auxerre 2-0, on the same day. Despite dropping points at home, PSG are sitting at the summit of the French top flight standings, having collected 48 points from 20 games, just three clear of second-placed Lens. The hosts, meanwhile, are languishing at the 14th position, with 20 points to their name, five points above the relegation zone.

Montpellier defeated Auxerre, courtesy of a second half brace from Stephy Mavididi. It was their sixth league-win of the season. Meanwhile, the away-win helped La Paillade end their four-game losing streak across all competitions. Romain Pitau’s side exited the Coup de France in the round of 64 stage, after losing 2-1 to second tier side Pau FC, earlier this month. Therefore, Montpelier’s sole focus will now be on the Ligue 1. Meanwhile, La Paillade’s home-form hasn’t been great either, having pocketed just one point from their last five matches on home turf.
PSG, on the other hand, are going through a lean patch, having secured just seven points from their last five top flight matches, following the resumption of competitive action after the World Cup break. Last time out, the reigning champions shared the spoils against Reims, despite taking the lead through Neymar, six minutes into the second half. The Parisians looked set to take all three points at Parc de Princes, but the Red and Whites netted a last-ditch equaliser, through Florian Balogun, to hand a third league-draw to Les Parisiens. Meanwhile, PSG finished the match with 10 men after midfielder Marco Veratti received a red card on the hour-mark.
Montpellier attackers Elye Wahi and Wahbi Khazri are serving a two-game suspension, therefore will not be available for Wednesday’s game. Midfielder Jordan Ferri is set to return after recovering from flu, while Pedro Mendes is doubtful because of a hamstring issue. As for PSG, Verratti will sit out due to suspension, therefore either of Renato Sanchez or Danilo Pereira might come into the starting lineup. Defenders Nordi Mukiele and Presnel Kimpembe are occupying the treatment room, while Neymar has also joined them, because of muscular fatigue.
Montpellier Probable line-up: Lecomte, Tchato, Jullien, Esteve, Maouassa, Ferri, Chotard, Nordin, Savanier, Mavididi, Germain
PSG probable line-up: Donnarumma, Hakimi, Marquinhos, Ramos, Bernat, Ruiz, Pereira, Sanchez, Messi, Mbappe, Ekitike
