The Monegasquez are heading into the match on the back of a 2-0 defeat away to Rennes last weekend, while the visitors played out a 1-1 draw against Auxerre.
Monaco will be looking to sneak through to the European places when they host Toulouse on the final matchday of the 2022-23 Ligue 1 campaign at Stade Louis II on Saturday. The hosts are currently occupying sixth spot in the French top flight standings, having collected 65 points from 37 games, level on points with fifth-placed Rennes, but separated by goal-difference. Toulouse, meanwhile, are sitting at the 13th position, with 45 points to their name, 12 clear of the relegation zone. The Monegasquez are heading into the match on the back of a 2-0 defeat away to Rennes last weekend, while the visitors played out a 1-1 draw against Auxerre.
Monaco lost out to Rennes last time out courtesy of second-half efforts from Lovro Majer and Amine Gouiri. It was their tenth league-defeat of the season, while the Red and Whites have recorded only one win from their last six outings, losing four matches in the period. Monaco have won 19 top flight games this term and their last success came away to rock-bottom side Angers at the start of May thanks to goals from Aleksandr Golovin and Myron Boadu. With just four points taken from their last six games, Monaco have slipped out of the European places (top five), but could still end the campaign in fourth place if they beat Toulouse and both Lille and Rennes fail to win on the final day, but they could also miss out on continental football altogether if Saturday’s event go against them.
Toulouse, on the other hand, have nothing to play for on the final matchday of the season, as they are already assured of safety having secured an eight point lead over 17th-placed Nantes, and are trailing tenth-placed Lorient by ten points. Les Violets can finish only as high as 12th. Meanwhile, Philippe Montanier’s men clinched the Coupe de France crown back in April, thrashing Nantes 5-1 in the final thanks to braces from Logan Costa and Thijs Dallinga. However, Les Pitchouns are winless in their last five league-games, losing four consecutive matches in the process. Montanier’s side shared the spoils against Auxerre last time out courtesy of Zakaria Aboukhlal’s equaliser on the stroke of half-time.
Monaco probable starting lineup: Nubel, Aguilar, Disasi, Maripan, Jakobs, Vanderson, Fofana, Camara, Golovin, Ben Seghir, Ben Yedder
Toulouse probable starting lineup: Dupe, Desler, Rouault, Nicolaisen, Suazo, Spierings, Van den Boomen, Ratao, Dejaegere, Aboukhlal, Dallinga
