Middlesbrough will look for a quick response against Rotherham United in the EFL Championship at the weekend following their surprise defeat to Cardiff City in midweek. The Boro did not have the best of starts to the season, however, they were expected to get past Cardiff in their own home. But the stunning 3-2 defeat has certainly left some supporters shellshocked. However, they have an immediate opportunity to bounce back from that setback when they face Rotherham United on Saturday.

Nonetheless, the upcoming match against the newly-promoted side will not be a straight-forward affair. Rotherham have adapted well to life at the Championship. They are sitting ninth in the table with 13 points from eight matches. Hence, Middlesbrough have to be at the top of their game to get the maximum points from this fixture. The Boro are currently languishing at the 21st spot with nine points from nine matches. They have won only twice till now in the league, thereby making the upcoming encounter all the more important for them.

Possible Lineups

Both teams have some players who will be absent for the upcoming clash, with Middlesbrough missing some important players. The home side will be without centre-forward Chuba Akpom and he will be joined on the sidelines by defender Darragh Lenihan and goalkeeper Zack Steffen. It will be interesting to see how they will replace these players. On the other hand, Rotherham United will also be missing a few players as well. Shane Ferguson will be joined on the sidelines by Lee Peltier and Tom Eaves. Besides, Grant Hall will not be able to play against his former side. Otherwise, they would very well start with the same side that won their last match against Blackpool.

Middlesbrough possible line-up: Roberts, McNair, Fry, Clarke, Jones, Mowatt, Crooks, Howson, Giles, McGree, Muniz

Rotherham United possible line-up: Johansson, Humphreys, Wood, Harding, Barlaser, Norton-Cuffy, Rathbone, Bramall, Wiles, Ogbene, Washington
