Marseille will host Norwich city in a pre-season friendly at Stade Parsemain on Saturday. Both sides are heading into the tie on the back of convincing wins in their respective previous games. The hosts defeated Marignane Gignac 4-1 last Wednesday, while Norwich City defeated Kings Lynn Town 2-0 in their last outing. The French outfit had an impressive Ligue 1 season last term, finishing second in the standings only behind title-winners Paris Saint-Germain. Norwich, on the other hand, got relegated from the Premier League courtesy of finishing at the bottom of the table, and are preparing for the upcoming Championship campaign.

Argentine tactician Jorge Sampoli, who helped Marseille secure a runners-up position in the French League last season, surprisingly chose to depart the club. The former Barcelona boss was replaced with former Juventus defender Igor Tudor for the upcoming season. The Olympians have been active in the transfer market, signing the likes of Isaal Toure, Mateo Guendouzi, Cengiz Under, Pau Lopez and Arkadiusz Malik. Marseille will also take on Middlesbrough, Real Betis and AC Milan before beginning their Ligue 1 campaign against Reims.

Norwich, on the other hand, after the Marseille game, will take on Cambridge United, Celtic, Hibernian and Cardiff City before hosting Wigan Athletic in their Championship opener. The Canaries began their pre-season with a 4-0 win over Dereham Town, before being held to a 2-2 draw at Jahn Regensburg.  Norwich’s only new addition has been midfielder Isaac Hayden from Newcastle United on a season-long loan.

Probable Lineups

Marseille boss Tudor is likely to once again rotate the squad heavily in order to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the team. Bamba Dieng, who netted a brace in the previous game, could come into the starting eleven. Former Borussia Dortmund player Leandro Balerdi is sidelined with a shoulder injury, therefore Duje Caleta-Car could partner Luan Peres in the three-man defence. As for Norwich, new arrival Hayden is nursing a knee problem while Adam Idah is also unavailable due to a knee injury. Head coach Dean Smith is unlikely to make too many changes to the team that started against King’s Lynn Town because of lack of options. Teemu Pukki is expected to lead the line.

Marseille probable starting lineup: Lopez; Toure, Caleta-Car, Peres; Rongier, Guendouzi, Gueye, Kolasinac; Payet, Under; Dieng

Norwich City probable starting lineup: Krul; Aarons, Omobamidele, Hanley, Giannoulis; Sorensen, McLean; Hernandez, Sinani, Tzolis; Pukki
