The French outfit finished second in the 2021-22 Ligue 1 table to secure a place in the group stages of the Champions League. Frankfurt, on the other hand, had won the Europa League title last term to earn a spot among Europe’s elite. But the German outfit had a disappointing start to their Champion League campaign as they were thrashed by Sporting Lison at home.
