Manchester United will host Everton in a Premier League fixture at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Brentford in the mid-week, while Everton secured a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur. The victory helped United to leapfrog Spurs into the fourth spot, having collected 53 points from 28 games, just three points clear of the fifth-placed side, who have played an extra match. The visitors, meanwhile, are languishing at the 16th position with just 27 points to their name, out of the relegation zone only by goal-difference.

Manchester United have lost only two of their last ten games across all competitions. One of those defeats came away to Newcastle United (2-0) in the league last weekend, courtesy of two second-half headers from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson. But the Red Devils quickly bounced in the mid-week to register their 16th top flight victory of the season against Brentford at home, thanks to Marcus Rashford’s lone goal in the first-half. It wasn’t a convincing performance from Ten Hag’s side on Wednesday night, and the Red Devils were once again indebted to David de Gea, who made a crucial save from a one-on-one situation with Kevin Schade to deny the Bees a slice of the spoils. Man United have not lost in 23 successive matches on home soil since the 1-0 reverse to Real Sociedad in Europe back in September last year and they have collected an impressive 33 points from 14 league-matches in front of their own supporters.
Everton, on the other hand, would be high on confidence having scored a last-ditch equaliser to earn a point against top four challengers Spurs and that too by playing more than 30 minutes of the game with 10 men in the mid-week. Michael Keane’s 90th-minute equaliser helped the Toffees to extend their unbeaten run to four games in the Premier League, while three of those matches ended in draws. The Toffeemen have recorded only six wins from their 29 league-games this season and the latest of those success came against Brentford last month. Meanwhile, Everton have won just one of their 14 away games in the top flight this term and they have collected just nine points from a possible 42 on the road.
