Arsenal did what they had to do to secure an important win away from home against Manchester United and keep their title hopes alive. The Gunners might be currently topping the Premier League table by one point but second-placed Manchester City have a game in hand, hence, anything can still happen in the title race. With the Premier League season set to end this coming weekend, a lot of spotlights will be on these two sides.

For now, Arsenal have done what is needed of them to get the all-important win in their penultimate Premier League contest against Manchester United. Leandro Trossard’s first-half strike was enough for the Gunners to record a 1-0 win. William Saliba, who produced a solid display at the back, was pleased with the clean sheet his side secured. “It wasn’t easy today because it’s a good team and it’s really hard to come and take the three points here,” Saliba, quoted on Arsenal.com, said after the match.

We didn’t play well as always: William Saliba

He added: “We suffered a lot. We didn’t play well as always, but when we are not at our best, we have to stay strong. We don’t want to lose or draw, and today we did very well at the end and we took the three points. It was another strong performance defensively from the team. I think it’s not only the defence, it’s everyone, the midfield and the attackers. We defend all together and we have to be happy to keep a clean sheet because it’s not every time they don’t score here.”

The Frenchman was also happy with his own performance, as he gave credit to his teammates for helping him out. “We are so happy and we need to keep going, keep going, and keep going. I’m proud because I played well today, and because of my teammates as well. They helped me every time, so it’s easy to perform in this team. From there, I want to keep going, I want to keep performing and keep progressing, and I will do my best,” he stated.

Manchester City are set to visit Tottenham Hotspur in midweek and must win the game to top the Premier League table. With the Gunners set to play Everton on final match day, the defender hopes that it could turn out to be a good week for them. “I hope it will be a good week for us, but we have to pray. We have to believe, and we have to win against Everton. We have to watch as well on Tuesday what’s going to happen in Tottenham, so let’s see,” he elaborated.
