The reverse fixture between these two sides in October last year saw Mallorca coming-from-behind to secure a 2-1 victory courtesy of goals from Vedat Muriqi and Lee Kang-In.
Two sides separated by four points in the La Liga Santander will be up against each other on Sunday when Mallorca host Valencia at Iberostar Stadium. The hosts are currently occupying 12th spot in the Spanish top flight standings, having collected 44 points from 35 games, six points adrift of the top seven. Valencia, meanwhile, are sitting one place behind the Pirates, with 40 points to their name, just five clear of the relegation zone. With three games remaining, Mallorca have a slim chance of challenging for a top-seven finish, while Che will be looking to seal their survival.

Mallorca are heading into the match on the back of a disappointing 3-0 defeat away to relegation-threatened Almeria last Saturday. The Pirates suffered their 15th league-defeat of the season at Estadio Mediterraneo courtesy of Lazaro’s hat-trick. Prior to that, the Barralet got the better of Cadiz thanks to Pablo Maffeo’s lone goal in the first-half. It was Los Barmellones’s 12th top flight victory of the campaign. Although Javier Aguirre’s side have taken just four points from their last five games, their home-form off late has been pretty good, not losing in their last five fixtures at Iberostar Stadium, while picking up nine points in the process.
Valencia, on the other hand, secured an impressive 1-0 win over 2020-21 La Liga champions Real Madrid at Mestalla last weekend thanks to Diego Lopez’s lone goal in the first-half. Although Che’s victory was overshadowed by the fallout which has ensued afterwards, following the racist abuse suffered by Vinicius Junior, Ruben Baraja’s side have now moved to the 40 point mark and extended their unbeaten run to three games, winning two times in the process. With three games remaining to be played, against the likes of Mallorca, Espanyol and Real Betis, Valencia still only have a five point buffer to the bottom three. Nevertheless, their recent form of 13 points taken from a possible 15, suggests that Braja’s men will not have any trouble in picking up a few more positive results.
The reverse fixture between these two sides in October last year saw Mallorca coming-from-behind to secure a 2-1 victory. Vedat Muriqi canceled out Edinson Cavani’s opener, before Lee Kang-In scored the winner seven minutes from time at Mestalla. It was the Pirates’ 15th victory against Che in 65 encounters across all competitions. Although last five clashes have seen both sides winning two games each, Valencia have an upper hand when it comes to the head-to-head record, having prevailed on 37 occasions, while 13 meetings ended in draws.
