Maccabi Netanya will host Istanbul Basaksehir in the second leg of the Europa Conference League qualifier at Netanya stadium on Thursday. The winner of the second leg will face either Breidablik or FK Buducnost Podgorica in the next round. Both the teams had finished fourth in their respective domestic league’s last term. Maccabi pocketed 52 points from 36 games, while the Istanbul based club accumulated 63 points from 38 games in the 2021-22 Super Lig.

The hosts are competing in the qualifying rounds of a European competition for the first time since 2012-13 and head coach Benyamin would be pleased with the fighting spirit displayed byhis team in the opening leg encounter. Making progress into the group stage of the Europa Conference League is one of the main targets of the Israeli club and last week’s performance against a much stronger opponent would provide them lots of hope and optimism. Basaksehir, on the other hand, are aiming to qualify for the European competition for the first time since the Champions League group stage exit two years ago. The Turkish outfit have bolstered their squad with eight summer signings, that includes former Real Madrid and Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil.

Last game’s goal-scorer Itzhak is expected to partener Rotman up front , while Avrahman and Twumasi could occupy the flanks. As for Basaksehir, World Cup winner Ozil is yet to train with the team therefore unavailable for selection on Thursday. Belgian midfielder Nacer Chadli is sidelined with an injury. Okaka could lead the attack with Turuc, Ozcan and Szysz in support.
