Macarthur will host Melbourne Victory in an A-League fixture at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Sunday. Before the World Cup break, the hosts defeated Central Coast Mariners 3-2, while Melbourne Victory suffered a humiliating 3-0 loss away to Adelaide United. The victory helped Macarthur move to eight points from six games, and they are now occupying fifth position in the standings. The visitors, meanwhile, are sitting at the ninth position in the 12-team table, with seven points to their name.

Goals from Al Hasan Toure and Jonathan Aspropotamitis gave a two-goal lead to Macarthure before Garang Kuol netted a brace to level the score for Central Coast. And then, just when it looked like the match was heading to a draw, Jed Drew scored the winner in the fifth minute of injury time to help Macarthur take all three points. The Bells find themselves in a position to qualify for the finals series for the second time in three seasons. Melbourne Victory, on the other hand, have already suffered three defeats this season, one fewer than they had in the entirety of last A-League campaign, when they finished second in the table.
