Lyon will host Toulouse in a Ligue 1 fixture at Parc Olympique Lyonnais on Friday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat against Lens on Sunday, while Toulouse got the better of Montpellier 4-2 on the same day. The victory helped the visitors to move to 12th position in the standings, having collected 11 points from 9 games thus far. Lyon, meanwhile, are sitting five places above their Friday’s opponents, with two points more.

Florian Sotoca’s lone goal from the penalty spot, eight minutes from time, handed Lyon their fourth consecutive league defeat of the campaign. Les Gones’ last win came against Angers (5-0), early in September, courtesy of Karl Ekambi’s brace and one goal each from Alexander Lacazette, Castello Lukeba and Mousa Dembele. After that, Peter Bosz’s side lost against Lorient (3-1), Monaco (2-1), PSG (1-0) and Lens. 

Toulouse, on the other hand, was involved in a thrilling end-to-end encounter against Montpellier last weekend. Stijn Spierings, Zakaria Aboukhal, Fares Chaibi and Brecht Dejaegere got on the scoresheet for the Le Tefece to secure their third league win of the campaign. Meanwhile Philippe Montainer’s side were forced to see out the final half- hour with 10 men after Mikkel Desler saw red for two bookable offences.

Probable Lineups

Former Arsenal man Lacazette is likely to lead Lyon’s attack with Toko Ekambi and Tete in support. Dembele and Tolisso, who are returning from injury, could feature on Friday, while Jerome Boateng is expected to partner Diomande at the heart of the defence. As for Toulouse, full-back Desler is out with a red card suspension, therefore either of Moussa Diarra or Kevin Keben could come into the playing eleven. Meanwhile Rhys Healey is sidelined with an ACL injury.
