Loreint are having their best top flight season, since earning promotion two seasons ago. Les Merlus have recorded nine wins and five draws in Ligue 1 thus far. Their last league-match against Marseille ended in a 3-1 loss despite the fact that Terem Moffi broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark. After that, Lorinet traveled to Armand Cesari for the Cup fixture, where Ibrahima Kone’s opener was canceled out by Joris Sainati, before Les Merlus prevailed 4-1 in the tie breaker. Meanwhile, Regis Le Bris’s side are going through a tough period, having won just three of their last 10 league games. 

Rennes, on the other hand, are going through an inconsistent phase, having recorded three wins and three defeats in their last six matches across all competitions. Brun Genesio’s men exited from the Coupe de France last weekend, courtesy of losing to Marseille. Matteo Guendouzi’s lone strike on the hour mark separated the two sides at Stade Velodrome. Prior to that, the Rennais edged past league-leaders Paris Saint Germanin with a similar scoreline 1-0, through Hamari Traore’s 65th-minute strike. It was their 11th Ligue 1 -win of the campaign.
