Liverpool take on Everton in what will be a contest between two sides that are going through poor run of form in the Premier League this campaign. It goes without saying that they both are not where they would like to be at this point in the season. Either way, the Merseyside derby will be one to keep an eye on for both sides. Despite them not sitting higher up in the table, this contest on Monday night still holds its charm and both team do not want to lose this match in any circumstance.

Everton’s poor run of form has already cost the managerial job for Frank Lampard. However, new manager Sean Dyche started with a bang, as they defeated Arsenal 1-0 last weekend. The new manager effect certainly played a big role, as the Gunners lost for only the second time in this Premier League campaign. That was an impressive performance all over the pitch by Dyche’s side. However, they still find themselves in the relegation zone and will be eager to get some quick points to climb out of the bottom three places.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have been nothing but a shadow of their self from last season when they were once fighting for the unprecedented quadruple. Fast forward a year and the Reds are languishing in mid-table positions – not where many would have anticipated them to be at this point in the campaign. They are already out of the two domestic cups and face a daunting task against Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16. In the Premier League table though Liverpool are currently sitting 10th with 29 points from 20 games, while Everton are placed 18th in the table with 18 points from 21 matches.

Possible Lineups

There are some key players who are set to miss this match for both sides. Liverpool have some good news in the form of a few players returning to training. The biggest positive is in the form of their Portuguese forward Diogo Jota. He could be in line to be named in the squad for the upcoming match. However, it is unlikely he will start this match. Besides, Roberto Firmino and Arthur have also returned to full training but they will take some time to return to first-team action.

However, the Reds do have a good number of players still missing. Two main centre-backs Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate will continue to miss this game. Luis Diaz and Thiago will also join them on the sidelines. On the other hand, Everton will be sweating over the fitness situation of their star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin. It is unlikely that he will feature in this game. Besides, they will also miss Andros Townsend, Michael Keane, Nathan Patterson and James Garner for this contest.

Liverpool possible line-up: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Matip, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, Keita, Salah, Gakpo, Nunez

Everton possible line-up: Pickford, Coleman, Coady, Tarkowski, Mykolenko, McNeil, Onana, Gueye, Doucoure, Iwobi, Maupay
