Liverpool did not have the best of starts to the pre-season when they were hammered by their rivals Manchester United on Tuesday. Despite the multiple rotations made by Jurgen Klopp on that day in Thailand, the 4-0 defeat would have not been a welcome result for the Reds. They now have an opportunity to put behind that loss when they take on another Premier League side in Crystal Palace in Singapore on Friday. While the upcoming clash will be the second match for Liverpool, Palace have already played two friendlies this summer.

Jurgen Klopp’s side enjoyed a memorable campaign last time around. However, their ending to the season was a bit of a letdown. Following the early promising signs, which saw the club fight for a quadruple, they ended up losing both the big titles – Premier League and Champions League – in the narrowest of margin. But they still managed to win a domestic double of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Liverpool will be keen to get their hands on the big trophies in the upcoming campaign and for that, they will look to have a proper pre-season. Things did not go to plan in their opener against Manchester United. In Klopp’s defence, they rotated the squad massively throughout the match against United. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace have played two matches till now in their pre-season preparations. After drawing with Accrington Stanley, they overcame Millwall in a goal rush.

Possible Lineups

Liverpool got their business done earlier this window by bringing in three new players. Youngsters Fabio Carvalho (moved from Fulham) and Calvin Ramsey (moved from Aberdeen) were joined by Darwin Nunez. The centre-forward joined for a massive fee from Portuguese club Benfica. He came on as a substitute in the last game against United and missed a sitter, which he will hope to put behind him and open his Liverpool account on Friday.

Besides, Diogo Jota might be a big doubt due to his hamstring issues, while there are question marks over Alisson Becker’s participation too. Meanwhile, Palace have already signed Cheick Doucoure, Malcolm Ebiowei and Sam Johnstone. It will be interesting to see how many minutes they might get on Friday.

Liverpool possible line-up: Adrián, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Thiago, Fabinho, Jones, Diaz, Salah, Nunez

Crystal Palace possible line-up: Guaita, Clyne, Ward, Andersen, Mitchell; Milivojevic, Raymond, Boateng, J Ayew, Edouard, Mateta
