There are still two games to be played, and there is still a glimmer of hope, but matters are now well and truly out of Barcelona’s direct control.

Spanish club Levante seemed to be in a deep mood for some fun following their 3-3 draw in the La Liga against popular club FC Barcelona. The latter are in deep trouble when it comes to their chances of sealing the league title, with the result putting a total end to their hopes. Barcelona were already relying on both Atletico and Real Madrid dropping points. However, they now need the two teams to drop even more. With two games still to be played, there is a glimmer of hope but matters are well and truly dire for Barcelona.

Levante seemed to have realised the same as evident from the post-match tweet from the club’s official account. “Normal que no nos inviten a la SuperLiga,” it originally read. The same translates to “Normal that they don’t invite us to the Super League,” when converted from Spanish to English.

The Super League being referred to is the European Super League (ESL). The controversial league has been slammed by fans and experts alike, having initially featured the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur among others.

However, the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus continue to support the ESL, bringing them in direct conflict with UEFA.

Atletico Madrid clash of great importance

Atletico Madrid are set to take on Real Sociedad in their next La Liga encounter, which will be a source of great interest considering how competitive the La Liga has been this season. Atletico players Stefan Savic and Jan Oblak will be full of confidence having recorded memorable milestones recently.

Savic recorded his 200th appearance for the Madrid-based side during the 0-0 draw at the Camp Nou on Saturday. The Montenegrin made his debut on Sep. 22, 2015 in a 2-0 win over Getafe. Since then, he has made 142 appearances in La Liga and 33 in the Champions League. Savic further played 18 games in the Copa del Rey, four in the Europa League, two in the Spanish Super Cup and one in the UEFA Super Cup. The 30-year-old has won the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup, both in 2018 at the club. Oblak made his 300th appearance for Atletico Madrid against Barcelona at Camp Nou.
