Leeds United will hope to build on their draw away at Manchester United when they face the same opponent at Elland Road for a Premier League contest on Sunday. Manager-less Leeds surprised many to score an early goal in both half to take an unlikely 2-0 lead at Old Trafford in midweek. However, Erik ten Hag’s boys made a brilliant second-half comeback to level the scores 2-2. With no more goals to come from it, the match ended with the shares spoiled. Considering Leeds’ recent problems, they would happily take the draw but the same cannot be said for Manchester United.

Manchester United had a chance to close the gap with defending champions and second-placed Manchester City when they hosted Leeds United in the midweek. However, the Red Devils had to settle for just a point. Considering the fact that they were two goals down at a point, United would normally take a point. However, their run at Old Trafford was brilliant prior to this draw, hence they would be left disappointed with the end result.

All of a sudden Manchester United’s run of form in recent games is not that impressive. The Red Devils have won only one of their last four Premier League matches, while they drew two and lost the other. As things stand, Man United have 43 points from 22 games to be sitting third in the table. Meanwhile, Leeds United are languishing down at the 16th spot with just 19 points on board from 21 games. Leeds are only one point above 18th placed Everton in the standings.

Possible Lineups

Both teams are set to miss quite a few players through injury for this game. Leeds United saw two of their players go injured during the 2-2 stalemate at Old Trafford. Luis Sinisterra went off went a hamstring strain and will likely miss this game, while Pascal Struijk was withdrawn as a concussion substitution. He is also likely to sit out this match due to the concussion protocols. They will be joined on the sidelines by Rodrigo, Archie Gray, Stuart Dallas and Adam Forshaw. Marc Roca and Liam Cooper’s participation is also in doubts.

Manchester United have an important mid-week game against Barcelona in the Europa League so it will be interesting to see if ten Hag rests some of his players to keep them fresh for that clash. Either way, United will continue to miss the suspended Casemiro. He will be joined on the sidelines by Anthony Martial, Scott McTominay, Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek. Antony and Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s participation is also in doubts.
