As of now, the Whites are languishing at the 16th spot in the English top flight standings, having collected 29 points from 30 games, just two points clear of the relegation zone. Leeds suffered their 15th league-defeat of the season against the Eagles last time out, despite taking the lead through Patrick Bamford’s 21st-minute opener. Prior to that, The Peacocks came from behind to beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 at home, thanks to Harrison’s 20th-minute opener and Luis Sinisterra’s winner on the stroke of half-time. It was Leeds’ seventh top flight victory of the season. Meanwhile, the Whites have won only five of their 15 league-matches at Elland Road this season. On a positive note, Leeds got the better of Liverpool 2-1 in the reverse fixture in October last year, thanks to Rodrigo’s fourth-minute opener and Crysencio Summerville’s dramatic-winner one minute from time.
Liverpool on the other hand, are winless in their last five outings, losing three in the period. But Jurgen Klopp’s side produced a fine performance against league-leaders Arsenal last time out and deserved to take all three points but acrobatic excellence of Aaron Ramsdale meant that the points were shared at Anfield. Mikel Arteta’s side raced to a 2-0 lead inside the opening 30 minute courtesy of goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus. But, Mohamed Salah pulled one back for the Reds on the stroke of half-time, before Roberto Firmino headed home the equalsier three minutes from time. Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp’s side have won only 12 league-games this term and their previous success came against Manchester United (7-0) at the start of March. To make matters worse, the Reds’ away-form in the top flight has been poor, winning only three of their 15 league-matches on the road this campaign.
