The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace last Friday, while Cagliari got the better of Strasbourg 2-1 in their recent outing five days later. Leeds didn’t have a great Premier League campaign last term, finishing 17th in the standings with 38 points, just three points above the relegation zone. Cagliari, on the other hand, finished 18th in the 2021-22 Serie A table to get relegated to the second tier of Italian football.

The Whites began their pre-season with two successive wins against Blackpool (4-0) and Brisbane Roar (2-1) before losing to Aston Villa (1-0) and then shared the spoils against the Eagles in their previous game. Against Crystal Palace, at Optus Stadium, Rodrigo’s opener was canceled out by Jean-Philippe Mateta’s strike. After the game against the Italian outfit, Jesse Marsch’s side will begin their new Premier League season at home against Wolves on August 6. Two of the big names Raphinha and Kalvin Philips have left the club to join Barcelona and Manchester City respectively, while Brenden Aaronson, Marc Roca and Luis Sinisterra are the notable new recruits.
Cagliari, on the other hand, after the game against the Whites, will take on Perugia in the Copa Italia fixture before kicking off their Serie B season away to Como on August 13. Fabio Liverani’s side participated in just two friendlies this summer, starting with a 3-0 win over Olbia before getting the better of Strasbourg courtesy of goals from Leonardo Pavoletti and Jacopo Desogus.
