Alfredo Di Stefano will play host to a season-defining clash in La Liga, with the game of even more importance considering the draw between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid take on Sevilla with an eye on jumping to the top of the table, on the back of a triumph. Zinedine Zidane’s men sit three points off the summit. This is thanks to their superior head-to-head record against the Rojiblancos.

This game marks the first of four finals in the fight for the La Liga title, with Real Madrid looking to maintain their sensational form in domestic competitions. The Spanish giants are unbeaten in their last 14 games. They will also be motivated by the triumph recorded against Sevilla in the first meeting this season at the Sanchez-Pizjuan. The last 11 league encounters on Madrid soil have gone the way of the Madridistas.

Casemiro is up against his favourite opposition in goal-scoring terms for Real Madrid. The Brazilian has scored 3 goals in his last two games against them at the Bernabeu. He will be a part of the squad for the game, with Sergio Ramos set to miss out through injury.

Sevilla have a mathematical chance of winning La Liga

Sevilla are certain of a spot in the next edition of the UEFA Champions League. The La Liga giants come into the game sitting in fourth place on 70 points. They have a mathematical chance of winning the league title, which will be an area of massive concern for Atletico, Barcelona and Real Madrid. Youssef En-Nesyri is their greatest attacking threat with 17 goals so far this season.

Julen Lopetegui’s team will also be looking to end a run of 13 straight losses away to Madrid with the last win coming in 08/09. Lopetegui has brought 23 players to Madrid, with the only players left out being Gnagnon and Munir. The Sevilla manager said in the pre-match press conference that his team travel ‘with the same desire and motivation that always moves us.’

The match will be refereed by Martinez Munuera who will be assisted by Gonzalez Gonzalez on VAR duties. It will be interesting to see who emerges victorious in this vital encounter.
