Real Madrid made sure they played well enough for them to make it to the finals day. Nacho’s second-half goal earned them a narrow victory against Athletic Bilbao. The defending champions Real are currently two points behind Atletico Madrid with one game remaining.

Nacho slotted in from Casemiro’s pass after 68 minutes and the goal was counted after the video assistant referee checked for offside against Karim Benzema in the build-up. Real’s next match will be against Villarreal next weekend.  It was not until the 28th minute that Los Blancos threatened and a penalty was awarded as Alvaro Odriozola’s cross struck the arm of Jon Morcillo.

In a game of few clear chances, Raul Garcia also received a late red card after a foul and Real chased the win they needed. With two minutes remaining in the match against Osasuna, Atletico were stationed at 1-1 and Real were ahead on their head-to-head record. However, Luis Suarez scored a late winner to ensure the title did not go to the rivals. Zinedine Zidane’s side must now hope Atletico slip up against Real Valladolid in their final match next Sunday.

Meanwhile, Barcelona is  out of La Liga title race after 2-1 defeat against Celta Vigo.
