Juventus will host Bologna in a Serie A fixture at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a surprise 1-0 defeat to newly promoted outfit Monza on September 18, while Bologna lost to Empoli at home, with a similar scoreline a day earlier. Juventus are occupying eighth position in the Italian top flight standings, with 10 points from seven games, while the visitors are sitting at the 16th spot having collected just six points thus far.

Juventus are already behind the pace set by their potential title rivals and are desperate to get three points this weekend. Last time out against Monza, Christian Gytkjaer’s lone goal in the 74th-minute separated the two sides and handed Bianconeri their first league defeat of the season. Massimiliano Allegeri’s side played the majority of the match with a man less after Argentine winger Angel Di Maria was sent off, five minutes before the break.  Juventus’ last victory was back in August, against Spezia, therefore Allegri is under severe scrutiny from all sides.

Bologna, on the other hand, lost to Empoli courtesy of Filippo Bandinelli’s 75th-minute strike. It was the Red and Blues’ third league defeat of the campaign. Prior to that, Bologna got the better of Fiorentina 2-1 courtesy of goals from Musa Barrow and Marko Arnautovic. It was the Petronians’ first Serie A win of the season. The Felsinians have won just one of their 13 away games in the league since the turn of the year.
