The Three Lions are the only winless side in their group but that is not their only worry. The way England performed in the June matches must have been a major concern for their supporters. They have played four games, drawn two and lost the remaining two against Hungary. In fact England suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat against the Hungarians at Molineux. Sitting a place above them in the third spot, Italy have five points to their name. However, Roberto Mancini’s side also suffered a big defeat in their last match when Germany thumped them 5-2. Keeping both teams’ forms in mind, it will be difficult to call a winner in this clash.

Possible Lineups

There are a few absentees both countries have to be mindful of ahead of their upcoming fixture. Midfield maestro Marco Verratti’s absence will be a big blow for the Italians. Besides, Matteo Politano and Lorenzo Pellegrini have to leave the national team camp due to injuries. The replacements – Davide Frattesi and Manolo Gabbiadini – should do the job for them in the middle of the park. On the other hand, England’s Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips had to pull out of the squad due to an injury. Jordan Henderson has been called up as his replacement but the Liverpool midfielder’s fitness situation is not entirely clear. There are also doubts over Kyle Walker’s participation in the clash, while his club teammate John Stones will be suspended for the match.
