Hyderabad FC produced a solid second-half display at Bambolim on Thursday night as they rallied from a goal down to earn a point against Jamshedpur in their third Indian Super League clash of this season. Greg Stewart scored a fine solo goal in the 41st minute while Bart Ogbeche (56’) found the net after a well worked move at the edge of the box with Joao Victor. On the back of the draw, HFC remain in 6th place with four points from their first three league games of the current campaign. Meanwhile, Jamshedpur are a place above with five points from three matches.

Manolo Marquez’s men started off brightly and had a couple of chances to score early in the game that fell to Juanan and Joel Chianese. However, it was the Red Miners who found a foothold in the game and started to test Laxmikant Kattimani’s goal with increased consistency as the half grew old. And finally, thanks to a bit of skill and a superb finish from Stewart, the hosts took a lead going into the break as Manolo had a tough team talk waiting for the men in yellow.

Second half fightback

Hyderabad did come out as a stronger unit after the break and put pressure on the Jamshedpur backline, with some fine passing just outside the box. The move ended with a composed Ogbeche finish, which gave Hyderabad the equaliser with more than half an hour to play.

Both teams pushed hard for the winner, as Manolo introduced the likes of Rohit Danu (at half time) and Javi Siverio to get the win but Owen Coyle’s men showed good resistance and managed to even test Kattimani at the other end.

The likes of Joao Victor, Juanan, Asish Rai and Bart Ogbeche were in good form for Hyderabad but the efforts were not enough to register back-to-back wins for the club. HFC are back in action when they take on Bengaluru FC on December 8, at GMC Athletic Stadium, Bambolim, Goa.

Earlier results

After starting on a losing note in their Indian Super League campaign, Hyderabad FC were back to winning ways at Fatorda against Mumbai City. Manolo Marquez’s men did not have the best start to the game, as Ahmed Jahouh found the back of the net at the end of a smart dribble, in just the 6th minute of the game.

However, it was all Hyderabad since then. Joao Victor levelled the score in the 13th minute, coolly slotting in from the spot after Joel Chianese was brought down with a clumsy challenge at the edge of the box.

It was Bart Ogbeche who gave the lead to HFC in the 53rd minute making no mistake from a superb Aniket Jadhav cross from the right. Hyderabad FC not only managed to keep the lead but also doubled it after Rohit Danu popped up with his first ISL goal. Prior to that match, Hyderabad FC kicked off their 2021-22 Indian Super League campaign with a 0-1 defeat to Chennaiyin FC in Bambolim.
