Indian Super League (ISL) franchise Kerala Blasters FC have announced the signing of Vincy Barretto on a three-year deal. The deal has been signed till 2024, with the young winger previously representing Gokulam Kerala FC before joining the KBFC. The twenty-one-year-old player began his career at the Dempo SC academy. He featured for the club in the U-18 league. In 2017, Barretto signed his first senior contract with the reserve team of FC Goa, before going on to play for the club for over three years. The footballer was a key member of the squad that won the 2018-19 Goa Professional League, going on to make 17 appearances for the club in the domestic league and I-League second division in 2019-20. Baretto made 13 appearances for I-League team Gokulam Kerala FC in 2020.

“I am glad to represent Kerala once again. I have always heard about the fan base that Kerala Blasters FC has, and I am really excited to be part of the team and experience that. I look forward to growing personally and showing my best performance on the field for KBFC”, said Baretto as quoted by the Kerala-based franchise’s official website.

Sporting Director Karolis Skinkys expressed his happiness following the addition of the young talent.

“We are happy to have this young talent, Vincy Barretto in the team. Barretto is a promising player with high potential. With his pace and versatility, he has procured an identity of his own within a short span of time. I wish him all the very best and extend my full support in his football career,” he said.

Recent signing of Mumbai City striker Bartholomew Ogbeche

Barretto’s transfer has further been accompanied by Hyderabad FC signing Mumbai City FC striker Bartholomew Ogbeche. The 36-year-old striker, who won the ISL Double of the League Winner’s Shield and the ISL Trophy with Mumbai City last season, has signed a one-year deal till the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

“I am thrilled to have signed for Hyderabad FC. One could easily see from the outside that he (Manolo Marquez) has a clear idea about his style of play and what he wants from his players which is an admirable attribute that I find in him. I’m very excited to be playing under him. Helping Hyderabad achieve success by making it to the playoffs is going to be a huge challenge, but one that I believe can be achieved with the help of everyone at the club,” said Ogbeche after formalities were completed.

HFC Head Coach Manolo Marquez termed the addition of the Mumbai City striker as a huge bonus for the squad.

“Ogbeche is a player that all football fans know. He has played in the top leagues in France, Spain, and the Netherlands, and even in the FIFA World Cup with Nigeria. He will be obviously an important player for our club. These kinds of players are always necessary in a team. Ogbeche will be important on and off the pitch, and his influence will be bigger if the squad is young. He is the third top goalscorer in ISL history, having scored goals for NorthEast, Kerala and Mumbai. The striker is always a main part of a team, and we are very happy to have Ogbeche with us,” he stated.
