Inter Milan resumed their Serie A campaign following the World Cup with a stunning 1-0 win over leaders Napoli last week, courtesy of Edin Dzeko’s 56th-minute goal. However, Simone Inzaghi’s side were quickly pulled down to earth when Monza came from behind to earn a dramatic draw at Stadio Brianteo on Saturday. Matteo Darmian’s 10th-minute opener was canceled out by Patrick Ciurria within the next one minute, before Lautaro Martinez restored Inter’s lead in the 22nd minute. Nerazzurri were on the verge of taking all three points, but Denzel Dumfries netted a 93rd-minute own goal to make the score 2-2. Meanwhile, retaining the Coppa Italia could be Inter’s best chance of winning a trophy this season, although they remain in the hunt for a fourth European Cup title after being drawn against Porto in the first knockout round.Â
Parma, on the other hand, are fighting it out in the second tier of Italian football after being relegated from Serie A in the 2020-21 season. The Yellow and Blues finished 12th in the Serie B last season, but this time around, they are in the mix of the playoffs and are enjoying a decent Cup run. Last time out, Little Eagles took a 2-0 lead against Venezia courtesy of Franco Vazquez’s brace, but Joel Ponjanpalo and Nicholas Pierini netted in the final 20 minutes to share the spoils. The winner of Tuesday’s game will face either Atalanta or Spezia in the quarter-final.Â
Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic is sidelined with an ankle injury, while full-back Calbert is also occupying the treatment room due to a cruciate ligament injury. Head coach Inzaghi is likely to make a number of changes for Tuesday’s game. Joaquim Correa might partner Romelu Lukaku up front, with Gosens and Dumfries occupying the flanks. As for Parma, legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is nursing a hamstring injury and hasn’t traveled with the team, joining the likes of Elias Cobbaut, Gabriel Charpentier, Daniel Ansaldi and Valentin Mihalia in the treatment room.Â
Inter Milan possible line-up: Handanovic, D’Ambrosio, De Vrij, Di Marco, Dumfries, Gagliardini, Asllani, Calhanoglu, Gosens, Correa, Lukaku
Parma possible line-up: Chichizola, Del Prato, Osorio, Valenti, Oosterwolde, Man, Sohm, Bername, Jric, Tutino, Vazquez
