Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has expressed his belief that newly appointed head coach Julian Nagelsmann, will make his presence felt at the Bundesliga club. Salihamidzic stated that he was eager to work with the “very innovative” head coach. Nagelsmann officially began work at Bayern on 1 July, having left RB Leipzig to succeed new Germany head coach Hansi Flick.

“With Julian we’re getting a young and innovative coach. Julian is a coach many top clubs in Europe wanted to sign, so we’re very happy he decided to continue writing his and our success story here with us. We have an excellent squad which still has potential and which we’ll continue to develop. That means we’re already well placed, and we did our work early this time by signing Upamecano and Richards in defence. But we’ll still keep a very close eye on the transfer market until the end,” said Salihamidzic.

The sporting director will enjoy assistance from former teammate Oliver Kahn, who has officially taken over as CEO after Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stepped away from the role after a hugely successful 20 years. The former Bosnia and Herzegovina international stated that he and Kahn shared a close and trusting relationship.

“We played together for nine years at FC Bayern, experiencing all the highs and lows alongside each other. We each know how the other ticks, deals with things, what’s important to him… We’ll make all important sporting decisions together, and I’m sure he’s the right successor for Karl-Heinz Rummenigge,” concluded Salihamidzic.

Opportunity for Marco Silva to showcase his potential as well

Nagelsmann evidently enjoys support from the Bayern Munich top management, having taken up a role that may well go on to define his career. Another manager who has recently taken up a similar career-defining role is Fulham manager Marco Silva. Club chairman Shahid Khan has voiced his support for Silva, which will certainly boost his confidence.

“My commitment to Fulham Football Club is resolute and I therefore take to heart my obligation to provide our supporters with the very best possible, on the pitch and away from the game. In recent days, this responsibility entailed identifying, interviewing and hiring a head coach who would achieve all of our objectives as a club. I met Marco Silva in Portugal last week and was inspired. Marco’s body of work in football was evident, but listening to him break down in detail his experiences at each of his stops as a head coach was thoroughly impressive. Marco also came prepared, with a full understanding of the players we have and ideas on how we can move forward this season. I loved his energy and optimism, and I’m confident Marco Silva is the right choice to lead Fulham Football Club as our new Head Coach,” stated Khan.

“Finally, Marco will add to his backroom staff a true fan favourite. Luis Boa Morte played here, worked here, knows the Club and appreciates what the Fulham badge means to the supporters. That’s a plus for all of us. Overall, I hope everyone who loves Fulham Football Club is as enthused to welcome Marco Silva to Fulham as I am proud to make this appointment. Come on, Fulham!,” concluded the Fulham chairman.
