Hyderabad FC boss Manuel Marquez was pleased with his side’s performance in the 4-0 win against SC East Bengal on Monday. The Nizam’s rode on Bartholomew Ogbeche’s hat-trick to go to the top of the Indian Super League points table. The Nigerian striker netted twice in the first half before Aniket Jadhav made the score 3-0 just before the break. After the break, sixteen minutes before time, Ogbeche completed his hat-trick to seal the win for his side. Meanwhile both teams observed a minute’s silence as a mark of respect for Subhas Bhowmick who passed away on Saturday.

Hyderabad broke the deadlock early in the 21st minute. Souvik Chakrabarti’s corner from the right-flank was headed home by Ogbeche. It was a poor piece of goalkeeping from Aridam Bhattacharya as the ball escaped his grip and landed inside the net..

A minute before the break, Ogbeche doubled the lead. Adil Khan’s poor clearance allowed Hyderabad to breakaway. Javier Siverio headed the ball into the path of Ogbeche, who dribbled forward beforeing rounding off Adrinadam and slotting home into an empty net.

Within a minute of the goal, Aniket cut inside from the left and curled a low shot into the far bottom corner. And then Ogbeche completed the drubbing with a fine finish from the edge of the box in the 74th minute.

Marquez said after the match: “We were very clinical today. If you look at the score-sheet it seems easy game. But it’s true, the moment we were winning 1-0 and they were attacking. But we created more chances than SCEB, especially in the first half.”

It’s important to keep clean sheet: Marquez

Substitute Marcelo Ribeira earned a penalty on the hour mark, but goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani denied Franjo Prce from the spot with a fine save.

When asked about hyderabad’s defense, the Spanish coach said: “When you get a clean sheet you are always happy when even they miss a penalty and Laxmikant Kattimani made very good saves. It’s very important if our team concede fewer goals and I am very happy to score four, not three. But if we don’t concede goals, for sure we won’t lose the game.”

The emphatic win helped Hyderabad to the summit with 20 points from 12 games. While SCEB remained at the bottom with nine points from 13 games.
