The Indian Super League (ISL) has decided to postpone the match between Kerala Blasters FC and ATK Mohun Bagan scheduled to be played at the Tilak Maidan on Thursday owing to the spread of COVID-19 inside the bio-bubble. Meanwhile the match between ATK Mohun Bagan and Odisha FC has been rescheduled to Sunday at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda as part of a double header. The match was originally scheduled for January 8.

Kerala Blasters FC issued a statement in Twitter which read: “Owing to the continued effect of COVID-19 in the bubble, the League has postponed tomorrow’s game between the Blasters and ATK Mohun Bagan. The game will be held at a later date.”

This is the second consecutive fixture of Kerala Blasters to be postponed as last week’s match against Mumbai City FC didn’t happen after a number of Blasters players returned positive test results for Coronavirus. The Blasters team has been in isolation after the game against Odisha FC on Wednesday and haven’t had any training session since then, as per the reports coming in.

Blasters are currently placed on top of the league standings with 20 points from 11 games. Ivan Vukomanovic’s side are unbeaten in 10 games and have been the team to beat in the tournament.

This is ATKMB’s third game to be postponed

In the last match against Odisha FC, the Yellow Army scored two goals without reply to take all three points. Full-back’s Nishu Kumar and Harmanjot Singh Khabra netted in the first half to secure fifth win of the season for the side from Kochi.

Meanwhile ATK Mohun Bagan saw two of their matches against Bengaluru FC and Odisha Fc already postponed this is the third one. The Mariners started the season impressively by defeating Blasters 4-2 in the opening match, but then lost a bit of ground that saw the departure of head coach Antonio Habas and arrival of Juan Ferrando.

Under news boss Ferrando, the team from Kolkata are doing a fine job and have been unbeaten in the last five games. They are now placed sixth in the points table with 15 points from nine games.
