Harrogate Town will host Huddersfield in a pre-season friendly at Wetherby Road on Saturday. The hosts will be participating in their third first-team friendly, while Huddersfield will be playing their second. Harrogat are heading into the match on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Rotherham last Tuesday, while the visitors defeated Morecambe 3-1 on the same day in their last outing. Harrogate didn’t have a great League Two campaign last term, finishing 19th in the 24-team table. Meanwhile Huddersfield secured third spot in the 2021-22 Championship standings before losing the playoff final against Nottingham Forest.

Meanwhile after the surprise resignation of head coach Carlos Corberan, Danny Schodield is set to take charge of Huddeersfield. Ben Jackson netted a brace in the Terriers’ last game against Morecambe. Kyle Hudling is the new signing from National League side Solihull Moors. Harrogate on the other hand, made as many as nine new signings so far, including three from Saturday’s opponents, with Jaheim Headley, Josh Austerfield and Matty Daly moving to Wetherby Road. The Sulphites began their summer friendlies with a 2-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday before being thrashed 3-0 by Rotherham.
Harrogate head coach Simon Weaver is likely to rotate his squad heavily as seen in the previous friendlies, in order to build the fitness of the team. Luke Armstrong is expected to lead the attack alongside Horbury. New arrivals Headley, Austerfield and Daly are likely to feature on Saturday against their parent club. As for Huddersfield, new signings David Kasumu and Conor Mahoney could get some game time after missing out against Morecampe.Â
