The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a goalless draw against Sutton United in a Football League Two fixture last weekend, while Premier League outfit Forest played out a 1-1 draw against Everton on the same day. Grimsby Town had thrashed Crewe Alexandra 4-0 in their previous round clash on August 9. Both sides had earned promotion last season and would be hoping to deliver their fans with an impressive cup run.

Grimsby Town got the better of Crewe Alexandra courtesy of goals from Luke Waterfall, Kieren Green, Andrew John Smith and Stephen Wearne. The Mariners are four games into their new Football League Two campaign, registering one win, two draws and a defeat to sit at the 16th spot in the standings. In their recent outing against Sutton Town, Paul Hurst’s side were involved in an end-to-end encounter but couldn’t find the back of the net and had to settle for a point.
Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, have made a decent start to their first Premier League campaign in more than two decades, recording one win, a draw and a defeat in three games to occupy the 10th spot in the points table. Forest began their league season with a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United, before securing a narrow 1-0 win over West Ham United. In their recent outing against the Toffee, Steve Cooper’s side broke the deadlock through Brennan Johnson, nine minutes from time, but seven minutes later, Demarai Gray equalised for Everton to share the spoils.
Aribim Prepple is likely to lead Grimsby Town’s attack with Driscoll-Glennon and Wearne occupying the flanks. Green Morris and Holohan could form the three-man midfield. As for Nottingham Forest, defender Moussa Niakhate is unavailable because of a hamstring injury, while Omar Richards is sidelined with a fractured leg. Surridge could lead the line, with Gibbs-White and Dennis in support.
