Meanwhile, Otto Addo made just two changes that edged past South Korea and went with a 4-2-3-1 formation with Ati-Zigi in between the sticks. Seidu, Amartey, Salisu and Baba started as the back four. Partey and Samed played behind Williams, Ayew, and Jordan, with Kudus playing as the lone striker. Ghana came into the game with a lot of momentum and confidence after a stunning win against South Korea courtesy of a Kudus’ majestic brace.

South Korea take second spot on goals scored

Uruguay started off as Luis Suarez got the game underway and had all the possession as they worked it right for Pellistri. Salisu simply outran him and stole the ball. Pellistri made another good run down the right, holding off Baba to whip a ball into the D-box, but there was no one to support a good cross. Nunez stole Amartey’s ball and played it to De Arrascaeta, who returned it to Nunez, and the one-two had some potential threat. Salisu simply clears it away from an empty net after Ati-Zigi rushed it off his line. Ghana were awarded a penalty which Andre Ayew failed to convert.

Pellistri swung a cross into the right, and the keeper saved Suarez’s low shot, but it bounced over his arms, giving Uruguay the lead for the first time in the World Cup. Uruguay didn’t stop there, as Pellistri lifted and Nunez nodded it on to Suarez, who fed De Arrascaeta. He took a quick glance and nailed one low shot towards goal, which went past Ati-Zigi and into the net to put Uruguay 2-0 up on Ghana. Uruguay finished level on points with South Korea but were edged on goals scored only after netting twice in the tournament.
