Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller and Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels are finally back in Germany’s national team. After a sublime season and a half under coach Hansi Flick for Muller, Joachim Low finally made the correct decision to call up ‘der Raumdeuter’ for the European championship. It was clear for everyone to see how Muller affects the team’s pressing and energy for Bayern under Flick, and Low expects the same from Muller when he plays for Germany.

Germany are in Group F for Euro 2020 along with France, Hungary and Portugal. The Euros will be Low’s last tournament as manager of the German national team. But despite their recent woeful form, Germany do still possess one of the best squads in international football, one that has more than enough potential to spring a surprise.

Bayern Munich’s 18 year old attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala has also been picked by Low.

MULLER’S REACTION

“I am delighted to be part of the national team again. During the pleasant and open telephone conversations we had with Joachim Low in the run-up to the nomination, we discussed what we both expect from each other in the coming weeks,” Muller told FCBayern.com. “The sporting challenge of once again representing the German colors at a tournament together with the boys and the associated chance to win the European Championship title really excite me.”

Muller is already considered a Bavarian football legend, and fans worldwide are excited to see him play in Germany’s jersey again. Everyone are eagerly looking forward to seeing him play in what might be his last national competition of his career.

The tournament is taking place between 11 June and 11 July, having been delayed by a year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
