Freiburg vs Borussia Dortmund: Bundesliga Live Stream, Schedule, Fixture and Probable Lineups

Freiburg will host Borussia Dortmund in a Bundesliga fixture at Europa-Park Stadion on Friday night. Both sides are heading into the match on the back of victories in their opening match of the new league campaign. The hosts thrashed Augsburg 4-0 last Saturday, while Dortmund secured a narrow 1-0 win over Bayern Leverkusen on the same day. Freiburg’s sixth-place finish last season was their highest since 2012-13 and they will be hoping to challenge for a Champions League spot this time around. Dortmund on the other hand, finished second in the league standings last term, eight points adrift of the champions Bayern Munich.

Freiburg began their new season in a dominant fashion, putting four goals past Augsburg without reply. Michael Gregoritsch, Vincenzo Grifo, Matthias Ginter and Ritsu Doan netted for Christian Streich’s side to take all three points. Breisagu-Brasilianer were simply brilliant at the back, while at the same time they were lethal on the counter-attacks. The home side recorded just two shots on target compared to seven by Freiburg. Meanwhile, Friday will be a much bigger test when Dortmund come to town.

Dortmund’s opening day win was a much tighter affair as Marco Reus’ 10th-minute tap-in was enough to separate the two sides and secure all three points. Edin Terzic’s side were lucky to hold on to the victory with Patrick Schik twice squandering glorious chances to level the proceedings.  Meanwhile goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was excellent between the posts to keep a clean sheet. His counterpart Lukas Hradecky saw a red card in the injury time having handled the ball outside the area and denied a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

Probable Lineups

Freiburg boss Streich is unlikely to make too many changes to the side that started at Augsburg. The back-four of Sildilla, Ginter, Lienhart and Gunter are likely to retain their place in the playing eleven. Eggestein and Hofler could sit in front of the back four with Sallai providing the creative spark up front. As for Dortmund, striker Adeyemi is doubtful because of a foot injury sustained in the previous outing. Therefore, Thorgan Hazard could come into the starting eleven to support Reus, Malan and Modeste in the attacking department. Defender Niklas Sule is nursing a muscle injury, therefore Schlotterbeck will continue to partner Hummels in the central defence.
