Morocco have created history by becoming the first African country to reach the semifinals of a World Cup.
France face a tricky Morocco challenge in the semifinals of the FIFA World Cup 2022 on Wednesday night. The defending champions entered the competition as one of the favourites to lift the trophy and have so far lived up to those expectations. The football played by France might not necessarily be the most attractive to watch, nonetheless, they have been extremely effective in getting the results. However, they have to be at their best to stop a resilient Morocco side.

The North African country has already defied odds to reach where they are. Not only have they defeated Spain and Portugal in the knockout rounds, but Morocco have also created history by becoming the first African country to reach the semifinals of the World Cup. Besides, they have conceded only one goal till now in Qatar, which was also an own goal against Canada. The same cannot be said for France who are yet to keep a clean sheet in this World Cup. Nonetheless, their attacking players have been extremely effective in getting the job done on the other end of the pitch.

After being plagued by injuries at the start of the World Cup, France do not seem to have any fresh injury problems. They have more or less everyone fit and available for this contest, thus allowing Didier Deschamps to name the same line-up that defeated England 2-1 in the quarterfinals. On the other hand, Morocco have plenty of concerns. They had to play without Nayef Aguerd and Noussair Mazraoui in their win over Portugal. It is unclear if the duo will be fit for this contest. Besides, Walid Cheddira will be suspended for this match. There are also big question marks over Romain Saiss’ availability.
France possible line-up: Lloris, Kounde, Varane, Upamecano, T. Hernandez, Tchouameni, Rabiot, Griezmann, Dembele, Mbappe, Giroud
Morocco possible line-up: Bono, Hakimi, El Yamiq, Aguerd, Allah, Ounahi, Amrabat, Amallah, Ziyech, Boufal, En-Nesyri
