France will look to make it two wins from two when they take on a tricky Denmark side in the FIFA World Cup 2022 on Saturday. It will be difficult to call a winner in this match since both countries will require the three points for different reasons. A victory for France will seal their passage to the knockout rounds and if the result in the other group match goes in their favour then the defending champion can even seal the top spot in Group D. Denmark, on the other hand, need the win to keep their destiny in their own hands of progressing from the group, hence they will give their all on Saturday.

Prior to the World Cup, France endured a disastrous time in the Nations League. Even in that competition, both these countries were placed in the same group. Neither finished at the top of League A Group 1, however, Denmark did well to secure the second spot with 12 points from six matches. On the other hand, France could only manage a paltry five points to finish third. Notably, Denmark defeated Les Bleus both home and away, including the last match for both teams before the World Cup. In their opening match in Qatar, France came from behind to thump Australia 4-1, while Denmark had to settle for a disappointing goalless draw against Tunisia.

Possible Lineups

There is no end to France’s injury woes in this World Cup. Even before they arrived in Qatar, Didier Deschamps had to leave behind the injured midfield duo of Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante. Since announcing the squad, Deschamps saw Christopher Nkunku and Karim Benzema pulling out of the tournament through injuries. The latest to join the list is Lucas Hernandez, who will now miss the World Cup. There are also question marks over the availability of Kingsley Coman. However, the progress of Raphael Varane could be a positive for them. Meanwhile, Denmark also suffered a major blow when Thomas Delaney got injured in their opener. As a result, he had to withdraw from the showpiece event.

France possible line-up: Lloris, Pavard, Konate, Upamecano, T. Hernandez, Tchouameni, Rabiot, Griezmann, Dembele, Mbappe, Giroud

Denmark possible line-up: Schmeichel, Andersen, Christensen, Kjaer, Kristensen, Hojbjerg, Eriksen, Maehle, Skov Olsen, Damsgaard, Dolberg
