France will be hoping to register their maiden UEFA Nations League win of the current edition when they face Austria in a League A Group 1 match on Thursday night. The upcoming clash will see two sides sitting at the bottom places of their group going head-to-head with each other. The French side, which is currently lying at the foot of their group, have one more match in the competition remaining after the Austrian clash. Even if they win their two remaining games, France will not be able to get the top spot in the table. With a lot of players missing out through injuries, the upcoming fixtures will give Didier Deschamps a final chance to look at them before selecting the squad for the year-end Qatar World Cup.

Sitting at the bottom of League A Group 1, France have just two points from four matches. They have drawn two and lost two till now. In their last Nations League match in June, France had narrowly lost 1-0 at home to Croatia. Hence, they will be eager to make a mark in the final two group games. Meanwhile, Austria are currently placed a position higher than France in the third spot. They have four points, having managed a win and a draw till now. They are also winless in their last three Nations League fixtures, hence the upcoming match will also be important for Ralf Rangnick’s side.

France have a plethora of injury concerns ahead of the upcoming matches. The most notable absentee is Paul Pogba and his return date is not yet clear.
