The reverse fixture at Hillsborough ended in a 1-1 draw forcing a replay at Lancashire, after Josha Earl's own goal, twenty minutes from time, canceled out Promise Omochere's 52nd-minute effort.
League One sides Fleetwood Town and Sheffield Wednesday are set to meet for the third time in less than three weeks time, when they go head-to-head in the FA Cup fourth round replay at Highbury Stadium on Sunday. The reverse fixture at Hillsborough ended in a 1-1 draw forcing a replay at Lancashire. Promise Omochere gave the lead to Sheffield Wednesday seven minutes into the second half, before Fleetwood leveled the score, courtesy of an own goal by Josh Earl, twenty minutes from time. As of now, the hosts are languishing at the 17th spot in the English third tier standings, having collected 29 points from 28 games, 32 points adrift of their Tuesday’s opponents, who are sitting at the summit of the table.

Fleetwood are heading into the match on the back of a 3-2 league-defeat to Burton Albion on Saturday. The Cods lost the match despite the fact that Jayden Stockley and Omochere found the back of the net. It was their fourth consecutive defeat in the third tier. As a result, the Fishermen find themselves just two points outside the relegation zone. However, Scott Brown’s side have fared pretty well in the Cup competition to reach this far, having got the better of Oxford City, Ebbsfleet United and Championship club Queens Park Rangers in the previous rounds.
Sheffield Wednesday, on the other hand, started off their FA Cup campaign with a 2-0 win over Morecambe, and then defeated Mansfield Town before booking their place in the fourth round with a surprise 2-1 victory over Premier League outfit Newcastle United. Meanwhile, the Owls are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 league win over Plymouth Argyle on Saturday. The victory helped Sheffield Wednesday to overtake Plymouth into the summit of the table, level on 61 points but separated by goal-difference.
Both these clubs have faced each other only on five occasions across all competitions. Meanwhile two of those meetings came inside the last three weeks. Prior to the FA Cup draw ten days ago, Sheffield Wednesday secured a narrow 1-0 win over the Cods in the league, on January 21. Marvin Jones’ 17th-minute strike separated the two sides in South Yorkshire. Meanwhile, the Owls have a clear advantage when it comes to the head-to-head, having recorded four wins, while one match ended in a draw.
