The Blue Waves became the first club from Saudi Arabia to reach the final of the tournament, where they will meet either Real Madrid or Al-Ahly on Saturday.
Al-Hilal stunned Brazilian outfit Flamengo by securing a 3-2 win on Tuesday, to enter the final of the Club World Cup in Morocco. The Blue Waves became the first club from Saudi Arabia to reach the final of the tournament, where they will meet either Real Madrid or Al-Ahly on Saturday. Salem Al-Dawsari scored two penalties for the Leaders, before Luciano Vietto’s 70th-minute effort proved to be the winner. Pedro netted a brace for Flamengo at Grade Stade de Tanger. Meanwhile, the Copa Libertadores champions finished the match with 10-men as Gerson was sent off for a second yellow card, having received his first on 15 minutes for diving in the Al-Hilal box.

Al-Hilal started the match brightly as they earned their first penalty of the match inside the opening four minutes after Vietto was brought down inside the box by Flamengo full-back Matheuzinho. Al-Dawsari stepped up and converted the spot-kick to make the 1-0 in favour of the The Blue Waves. The Saudi Arabian attacker became the first player to score against the same opponents in two editions of the Club World Cup as he had also netted against Rubro-Negro in 2019. Although Pedro leveled the score with a fine 20th-minute first-time effort from inside the box, the Saudi’s restored the lead with yet another spot-kick, nine minutes into the first-half injury time.

Once again, it was Vietto, who won the penalty after the Argentine was tripped by Gerson inside the box. The Flamingo midfielder received his second yellow card of the match after VAR intervention and the referee pointed to the spot. Al-Dawsari scored his second of the night by sending Flamengo goalkeeper Santos the wrong way and slotting home into the back of the net.
And then, with 20 minutes remaining, Vietto made the score 3-1 as he finished off a quick counter-attack. Pedro cut the deficit with an easy tap-in one minute into injury time, but the Saudis managed to hold onto the slender lead and progressed to the final of the tournament.
