La Viola thrashed Braga 4-0 in the first leg of their playoff tie in Portugal, before securing a 3-2 win in the home leg, courtesy of goals from Rolando Mandragora, Riccardo Saponara and Arthur Cabral, and booked a place in the last-16 stage of the Conference League. Last Friday, Fiorentina defeated reigning Serie A champions Milan at home, thanks to second-half goals from Nicolas Gonzalez and Luka Jovic. The result helped the Viola move to 12th spot in the Italian top flight standings, having collected 31 points from 25 games. Meanwhile, Fiorentina are now undefeated in their last five matches across all competitions, while winning four of those fixtures.
Sivasspor, on the other hand, ended up on the losing side of a seven-goal thriller in the Turkish top flight on Saturday, despite the fact that Jordi Caicedo opened the scoring and Leke James netted a late double at Ataturk Olympic Stadium. The result ended their three-game winning streak in the league. Meanwhile, Riza Calimbay’s side recorded three wins, two draws and one loss in their six Conference League Group G-games to collect 11 points, just one more than second-placed CFR Cluj, entering the last-16 of a UEFA competition for the first time ever.
