Finn Harps will play hosts to St Patrick’s Athletic in an Ireland Premier Division fixture at Finn Park on Friday night. The home side are heading into the tie on the back of a disappointing 3-0 defeat against Sligo Rovers last Saturday, while St Patrick’s got the better of UCD 2-1 in their previous fixture. The Harps are currently languishing at the 9th spot in the 10-team table with just 11 points from 19 games and are aiming to get out of the relegation zone. While the visitors are at the 4th spot with 31 points from 20 matches and are aiming to move up to the European spot.

The Harps have had a tough campaign so far, winning just two league games and both of their wins came against Shelbourne. Olli Horgan’s side’s last victory arrived in April and since then, the Harps registered five defeats and one draw in their last six games. In their previous match at Sligo Rovers, Aidan Keena netted a brace and Karl O’Sullivan scored once to condemn the Harps to their 12th league loss of the season. Horgan’s men are 10 points away from safety with 17 games to play.

St Patrick’s Athletic, on the other hand, are at the opposite end of the table, fighting for a European spot.  Last week’s victory over UCD had taken the Saints to within three points of the top three. Tim Clancy’s side has had a relatively pleasing start to the campaign, winning nine games so far. Last week, Eoin Doyle’s brace helped the Athletic Red Army earn three points against UCD.
