Finland and Estonia will go head-to-head in an international friendly at Estadio da Nora in Albufeira, Portugal on Thursday evening. The Eagle Owls are heading into the match on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Sweden on Monday, while Estonia played out a 1-1 draw against Iceland, a day earlier. Both sides are aiming to build some confidence ahead of the commencement of the qualifying campaign for Euro 2024. Finland, who qualified for the previous edition of the European championship in 2020, are placed in Group H for the Euro 2014 qualification, alongside Denmark, Kazakhstan, Slovenia, San Marino and Northern Ireland.

Finland gave a good account of themselves in Euro 2020, having recorded one win and two defeats to finish third in their group, behind Belgium and Denmark. Meanwhile, the Huuhkajat were most recently in competitive action in September, as they closed out their UEFA Nations League campaign with a 2-0 win over Montenegro. The victory helped the Nordic nation to finish second in the group. Last time out, England lost to Sweden, courtesy of goals from Christoffer Nyman and Joel Asoro.
Estonia, on the other hand, will consider themselves unlucky to share the spoils against Iceland in their last outing despite taking the lead through Sergei Zenjov on the half hour mark. Andri Gudjohnson scored the equaliser, from the penalty spot, in the 91st-minute. Meanwhile, Estonia headed into Portugal full of confidence having secured third place finish in the Baltic Cup last year. Thomas Haberli’s side defeated Latvia in the Semi-final of that tournament in November.
