Ferencvaros had suffered a 4-2 aggregate defeat to Qarabag in the Champions League third qualifying round to drop down to the Europa League qualifying playoff. The first leg against Qarabag had ended in a 1-1 draw. And then, in the home leg, the Green and whites lost 3-1 courtesy of goals from Ibrahima Wadji and Abdellah Zoubir. Meanwhile the Hungarian outfit has made a brilliant start to their domestic league campaign, registering two wins from as many games so far. In their recent outing against Fehervar, Green Eagles netted four times through Carlos Auzqui, Xavier Mercier, Adama Traore and Franck Boli.
Shamrock Rovers, on the other hand, got the better of Shkupi 5-2 on aggregate in the Europa League third qualifying round. The Irish outfit won the home leg 3-1 before securing a 2-1 win in the second leg and thereby sealing the tie. In the away leg at Philip II Arena, Rory Gafney and Aidomo Emakhu netted for the Rovers, while the hosts pulled one back through Sunday Adetunji, late in the injury time. Prior to that, the Hoops were eliminated from the Champions League second qualifying round by Ludogrets.
Ferencvaros boss Cherchesove is likely to opt for the same starting eleven that defeated Fehervar last weekend. Boli is likely to lead the line with Auzqui, Mercier and Traore in support. Rasmus Thelander is likely to miss the contest because of injury. As for Shamrock Rovers, Hoare, Cleary and Grace could form the back-three with Finn and Lyons occupying the flanks. Greene and Gaffnly are expected to form the attacking duo.
Ferencvaros probable starting lineup: Dibusz; Paszka, Kovacevic, Knoester, Civic, Vecsei, Besic, Auzqui, Mercier, Traore, Boli
Shamrock Rovers probable starting lineup: Mannus; Hoare, Cleary, Grace, Finn, O’Neil, Towell, Watts, Lyons, Greene, Gaffney
