Fenerbahce will host FC Slovacko in the first leg of their third round Europa League qualifier in Istanbul on Thursday. The hosts had lost to Dynamo Kyiv in their second qualifying round of the Champions League, which has seen them drop into the Europa League, while Slovacko got this far in the competition courtesy of finishing fourth in the Czech First League in 2021-22. The visitors are heading into the match on the back of a 2-2 draw against Brno in a Czech First League fixture last weekend. Fenerbahce lost 2-1 to Dynamo Kyiv in the second leg of the Champions League qualifier on July 27. Vitaliy Butalyski’s opener was canceled out by Attila Szalai to take the game to extra time, where Oleksandr Karavayev’s 114th-minute strike helped the Ukrainian outfit to go through to the next round of qualification. The Yellow Canaries finished second in the Turkish top flight table last term, eight points behind the champions Trabzonspor, and they are preparing for their new league campaign against Umraniyespor on August 8. Â
