Liverpool had a below-par start to the new campaign, as they could only manage draws against Fulham and Crystal Palace in their opening two fixtures. They followed it by suffering their first loss of the season at Old Trafford to old-foes Manchester United. However, they won their last two fixtures against Bournemouth and Newcastle United to help them climb up the table. Meanwhile, Everton started the season with successive defeats before playing out three consecutive 1-1 draws. Liverpool are sixth in the table with eight points from five games, while Everton are 17th with three points from five matches.

Possible Lineups

Both sides have plenty of injury concerns to deal with ahead of the derby on Saturday. Liverpool have their biggest concern in the midfield with Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all out injured. Add to it captain Jordan Henderson, the Reds have serious problems in the middle of the park. Juventus loanee Arthur Melo could help address this issue but the Saturday encounter might come too soon for him following his recent arrival to the club.

Besides, the Reds will also miss Ibrahima Konate, Calvin Ramsay and Caoimhin Kelleher, while Curtis Jones and Joel Matip could be involved at some point in the upcoming game. Darwin Nunez is back from suspension however, it is not clear if he will start the derby. For Everton, Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s absence will be the biggest blow. He will be joined on the sidelines by Ben Godfrey, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Mason Holgate, Yerry Mina and Andros Townsend. It is unclear if new arrivals Idrissa Gueye and James Garner would be able to play some part on Saturday.

Everton possible line-up: Pickford, Patterson, Coady, Tarkowski, Mykolenko, Davies, Onana, Iwobi, McNeil, Gray, Maupay

Liverpool possible line-up: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Elliott, Fabinho, Carvalho, Salah, Diaz, Nunez
