Norwegian wonderkid Erling Braut Haaland is set to have a busy summer transfer window with several of Europe’s biggest clubs looking to secure the striker’s services next season. Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola and father Alf-Inge Rasdal Haaland met with the Barcelona and Real Madrid boards on Thursday to discuss a possible transfer, as reported by football journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Raiola had been in Dortmund in the past few days to discuss a potential price for Haaland with his current club Borussia Dortmund. The striker’s 75 million euros release clause would not be valid before July 2022, hence Raiola is eager to understand the final price and decide upon the next steps for Haaland.

MEETING WITH BARCELONA

Thursday’s meeting with new Barcelona president Joan Laporta and the board was to understand the direction the board has envisioned for the club. No deal has been signed, the meeting was solely a discussion with the board, as per Romano. He also reported that the Barcelona meeting was ‘positive’.

“Today there’s a meeting with Barca to look at the new project of Joan Laporta and his team. There’s nothing done or signed, it’s only “talks time” to consider the best solution,” Romano said on Instagram.

After the meeting, Raiola and Haaland’s father left for Madrid to meet with the Real Madrid board to discuss the same thing. Romano reported that the two would meet the top five clubs interested in signing Haaland, in the coming weeks. They want to discuss contract proposals, potential bids, and club goals with everyone before moving forward.

Borussia Dortmund have made it clear that they would not accept anything less than 150 million euros for Haaland since they hope to keep the player for another season at least before his 75 million euros release clause becomes valid in the summer of 2022. Romano reiterated that nothing had been confirmed as of yet and the race to sign the wonderkid was going to be a long and complicated one.

Several big European clubs like Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Haaland. United had attempted to sign him before his move to Dortmund.
