Manchester United recorded a crucial win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, taking them to fifth place in the English Premier League (EPL) table. Goals by Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, and Marcus Rashford saw the Red Devils over the line as they recorded a 3-0 win over the north London side. It is a win that will take a lot of pressure off manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who has been under fire for a number of poor results in the last couple of weeks, including a 5-0 loss against Liverpool at Old Trafford. It was an important match for both Ole and Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo, and it seems like a lot of questions will be asked of the latter.

RONALDO SCORES INCREDIBLE VOLLEY

Manchester United opened the scoring in the 39th minute and it was none other than Cristiano Ronaldo who scored. The Portuguese superstar struck a sublime volley at the far post from a beautiful Bruno Fernandes cross. Fernandes got the ball from defender Luke Shaw before crossing the ball into the Spurs penalty area. The ball met the right foot of Ronaldo and nestled in the back of the net. The power and precision in the volley was exceptional, something only a player of Ronaldo’s caliber could have executed that well.

Spurs actually found the back of the net in the first half before the Red Devils but the goal was disallowed. Cristian Romero poked the ball past United keeper David De Gea but it was ruled out by VAR as Romero was in an offside position when the ball was played to him.

CAVANI, RASHFORD ON THE SCORESHEET

United’s second goal was scored by striker Edinson Cavani in the 64th minute and it was an absolute peach of a finish. Fernandes dispossessed Spurs player Oliver Skipp and played it to Ronaldo. The Portuguese spotted the run of Cavani and played a brilliant pass. Cavani then chipped the ball over a charging Hugo Lloris to double the Red Devils’ advantage in the match. Ronaldo was substituted for Marcus Rashford shortly after the goal.

Marcus Rashford sealed the deal in the 86th minute of the match. The young striker displayed his immense pace as he got past the Spurs defence to get to a Nemanja Matic pass before calmly placing the ball past Lloris to score the third goal and sealed all three points.
