England will take on Italy in a pulsating UEFA European Under-19 Championship semifinal on Tuesday. The Englishmen were labeled as one of the favourites for the tournament alongside France and they have lived up to the expectations till now. England won all three group matches to top Group B, while, Italy won two and lost the other to France to settle for a runners-up spot in Group A. Hence, the first semifinal on Tuesday is expected to be an eye-catching affair.
The English side lived up to the favourites tag in Group B by topping the standings with relative ease. They defeated Austria 2-0 and trounced Serbia 4-0 before edging past Israel 1-0 in the final group match. In total, England scored seven without conceding a single goal till now in the competition. They will be the favourites for Tuesday’s encounter.
On the other hand, Italy started the tournament well before falling prey to the favourites France. The Italians defeated Romania 2-1 before narrowly getting past Slovakia 1-0 in their second match. However, Italy got a reality check in the final group match when they were comprehensively beaten 4-1 by France. Hence, the Italians will be eager to bounce back from that setback when they face a talented English side.

The England Under-19 side made a lot of changes to starting eleven against Israel in the last game. Since they had already secured their semifinal passage, the Englishmen had the luxury to rotate their squad in the final group match. Hence, a lot of rested players would be expected to be back in the Starting XI, making the job extra difficult for the Italians. On the other hand, Italy are expected to retain a 4-3-1-2 formation and could maintain a solid defensive unit. It will be interesting to see if they are the first side to score against the Englishmen in this competition.

The European U-19 championship semifinal clash between England Under-19 and Italy Under-19 will take place at Národné tréningové centrum SFZ, and it will kickoff at 8:30 pm IST on June 28, Tuesday.
