England U-19 will take on Serbia U-19  in a UEFA European Championship Group B fixture at Stadion SNP Stiavnicky  on Wednesday. England made an impressive start to their campaign, defeating Austria 2-0 on Sunday, while Serbia played out a thrilling 2-2 draw against Israel last time out. After the completion of the first round of games, England sit at the top of the group with three points, while Serbia are placed at the third spot, level on one point with Israel. Meanwhile the tournament features eight teams competing for the title and they are separated into two groups of four.

England made a spectacular start to the campaign by getting the better of an Austrian team, who had eliminated Spain in qualifying. On Sunday, the Three Lions found the back of the net twice through well-worked team moves. Midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka had a brilliant game, scoring the first one and setting up Alfie Devine to double the lead. Ian Foster’s side are one of the favourites to go all the way through to the final in Trnava, on July 1. The top two finishers in both groups of this eight-team tournament not only qualify for the semi-finals, but also automatically qualify for the 2023 Under-20 World Cup in Indonesia.

Serbia, on the other hand, were involved in an exciting end-to-end encounter against Israel’s last time out. Dejan Brankovic’s side opened the scoring through Marko Lazetic inside the opening eight minutes, before Oscar Gloch leveled the score for Israel in the 16th minute. Meanwhile in the 74th minute, Israel took the lead through Ahmad Ebraheim and looked like they would pocket the three points, but right at the end, in the third minute of injury-time, Stefan Lekovic salvaged a point for Serbia.
